We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist/Blood Bank Technologist to work in the Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL) at our First Hill Seattle location.

Our IRL has served the Pacific Northwest as a regional reference laboratory for over 30 years. Technologists in this lab are responsible for: conducting workups of complex antibody problems and red cell reference testing according to Standard Operating Procedures, performing complex antibody IDs using multiple methods, prenatal testing, testing for the evaluation of suspected hemolytic transfusion reactions, compatibility testing and antibody titration studies for potential donor/recipient of progenitor cells, bone marrow and solid organ transplants. Technologists also maintain a frozen red cell inventory consisting of rare antigen negative units.

Requirements include: Bachelor of Science degree in clinical laboratory science or other biological science or equivalent; education must meet CMS/CLIA qualification requirements to perform high complexity testing. Also required is 2 years of immunohematology reference laboratory experience and current certification as MLS (ASCP), BB (ASCP) or MLT(ASCP) or equivalent certification. SBB(ASCP) certification is preferred. The requirement for 2 years of Immunohematology reference lab experience may be waived with SBB(ASCP) certification. Demonstrated familiarity with computers and keyboarding skills for performing order entry, and the ability to see red, green, blue and yellow are required. We are also looking for excellent customer service skills and the ability to prioritize and reprioritize, and handle tight deadlines, stressful situations and emergency requests.

After training, the schedule is expected to be on 2nd shift Rotating Two Weeks of Tuesday to Saturday and 2 weeks of Monday thru Friday rotation, 8 hour shifts.

A flexible schedule is required, having the ability to regularly work holidays and on-call as scheduled. Training may take place on 1st or 2nd shifts and on any day of the week.

This position is non-exempt and would be eligible for our competitive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, LTD, Health Savings Accounts, Flexible Spending Accounts, commuter benefits, 403(b) retirement plans with company-paid contributions up to 10% of salary, 24-34 days of Paid Time Off, Extended Illness leave, etc.. Hours worked on 2nd shift, 3rd shift and weekends include additional differential pay.
