Bloodworks Northwest is an independent, community-based nonprofit organization with a tradition of blending volunteerism, medical science and research to advance transfusion medicine and improve patient care. The Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders at Bloodworks NW helps people with hemophilia and other inherited and acquired bleeding disorders obtain early, effective treatment and acquire skills that foster independence and minimize the acute and chronic complications of hemophilia.
We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse, or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to practice full-time as a member of a multidisciplinary team caring for people living with inherited bleeding disorders. As a member of our team, you will contribute to the care of over 600 adult and pediatric patients with inherited bleeding disorders, including hemophilia and vonWillebrand disease. The Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders has offered holistic, comprehensive care through weekly clinics, outpatient therapy, education, outreach services, annual summer camp and research for more than 40 years. This unique outpatient clinic position offers the skilled clinician significant autonomy within a supportive team environment.
Our team develops long-term relationships with patients, emphasizing prevention and preservation of function and independence. Position includes patient assessment & triage, patient and family education, direct patient care including infusion of medication, drawing blood for diagnostic testing, serving as a consultant and educator to community providers, coordination of community care. Position focuses primarily on adult patients, with some pediatric coverage when on-call and at camp. Collaboration for research and program/material development with colleagues both locally and nationally is encouraged. Specialty specific preceptorship is provided. Requirements include current Washington RN license, Master's Degree in nursing or relevant field highly preferred or equivalent education and/or clinical experience with bleeding disorders. Experience in women's healthcare desirable. A minimum of three years acute care experience required. Valid driver's license is required for this position. Must possess basic computer skills such as Word, Power Point and e-mail. Also required: the ability to read, write and communicate in English, prepare written treatment recommendations, gather and evaluate necessary information, ability to deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations and diverse populations, experience with providing patient and family education, self-motivation and ability to function semi-autonomously while making critical decisions regarding the need for further action by appropriate medical staff. Must be willing to rotate telephone on-call with other nurses and occasionally travel to area medical centers. This position is full time and is benefits eligible. Salary is DOE, DOQ.
