Elution

Indications Recovery of antibody bound to red blood cells of patients found to have a positive direct antiglobulin test. The eluate is prepared from patient’s red blood cells that have been coated in vivo to determine the specificity of the antibody.
Method Standard test tube methodology; Acid elution
Test Information Test performed on sample with a Positive Direct Antiglobulin (DAT) result.
Sample Requirements EDTA tube. Serum separator gel tube is not acceptable.
Requested Volume 1 full 7 ml EDTA sample
Minimum Volume or Pediatric volume Minimum volume: 1 full 7 ml EDTA sample
Pediatric: 1 full 3 ml EDTA sample
