Student Incentives to Host a Blood Drive

Winter Scholarships for Students who Host a Blood Drive
December 1, 2019 – January 20, 2020

Host a blood drive during winter school break and save lives in your community when it is needed most! Winter school break is a time of great need for blood. Many donors are away from home, out of school, and not available to give locally.

The scholarship program empowers you to earn money for college expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, or even to pay off student loans. See the program’s Overview and Agreement  an Official Rules for a complete description.

Not only will you be saving lives, but this is also a great leadership opportunity that looks great on a resume. You will also receive a Certificate of Excellence after your drive for you to use in your professional portfolio.

Option A: The Bloodworks blood drive must occur between December 1 – December 19, 2019 or January 5 – January 20, 2020.

  • Award: 35 minimum to receive $350; $10 per donor after 35.

Option BPeak Period: The Bloodworks blood drive must occur between December 20, 2019 – January 4, 2020.

  • Award: 25 minimum to receive $500; $10 per donor after 25.

First Time Donor Bonus: If 50% of your total donors are First Time Donors with Bloodworks NW, you receive an additional $100 in scholarship funds! Your drive must have a minimum of 16 total donors to qualify.

Summer 2020 Fundraiser for School Groups that Host a Blood Drive

Need money to throw the school prom? How about new team uniforms? Your school group* can earn money to use towards student group events, fees, books, supplies, equipment, programs, or related educational expenses.

Host a drive for a program award of $300 for 36 donors, $500 for 50 donors, $750 for 75 donors, or $1,000 for 100 donors.
Dates to hold the Fundraiser Blood Drive are from June 20, 2020 to September 13, 2020.

*School group: A administration-approved and institutionally recognized high school, college, or accredited education institution organization or club consisting of four or more people that is student based and/or focused, tied to a department on campus with oversight from that department, or whose purpose is intended to be a student learning experience.

 Eagle Scout Service Project Blood Drive

Service is an important part of the Scout Oath.  “To help other people at all times” aligns with the Bloodworks NW mission of saving lives in partnership with our community. 

Host a Bloodworks blood drive and together, we will reach your rank requirements to plan, develop, and give leadership to others.  You will have a perfect opportunity to practice what you’ve learned and gain valuable project management and leadership experience while positively impacting our community blood supply.  That is helping people!


  1. To host a blood drive with Bloodworks Northwest (BWNW) as your Eagle Scout Service Project, you must secure approval by the local Boy Scouts of America (BSA) council.  
  1. You must register a minimum of 50 blood donors to consider your project complete.
  1. A minimum of 30 percent of all donors (15 donors) at an Eagle Scout blood drive must be first time donors with BWNW.
