The US FDA recognizes that COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma (CCP) may be an effective treatment for COVID-19, and is considered most effective when given in the first three days of hospitalization.
ABOUT THE DONORS
Donors who have verified previous positive tests for COVID-19 are being invited to donate.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Washington State Department of Health are assisting Bloodworks in contacting recovered patients as potential donors for these efforts.
ABOUT THE PLASMA
Bloodworks uses an orange tie tag to denote that a unit of plasma is CCP. This is acceptable labeling, per the FDA.
Each collection is tested for anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies by one of several methods.
