Test Information The cobas® Zika test for use on the cobas® 6800 and cobas® 8800 Systems is a qualitative in vitro nucleic acid screening test for the direct detection of Zika virus RNA in human plasma.
Sample Requirements EDTA (Whole Blood) or Becton-Dickinson Plasma Preparation Tube
Requested Volume 6 ml
Minimum Volume or Pediatric volume 1 mL
Sample Information Dedicated EDTA tube. When a full 6 mL tube is submitted, may be combined with a request for Babesia-NAT and/or WNV-NAT
Shipping Information Samples collected in a plain EDTA tube are acceptable for 5 days at a combination of room temperature (up to 72 hours at ≤ 25°C) and at 2-8°C.

Acceptability is extended to a total of 7 days if sample is collected in a Becton-Dickinson Plasma Preparation Tube (PPT), and the PPT is centrifuged according to Becton-Dickenson centrifugation instructions prior to shipment of the sample.
