Bloodworks Northwest Cord Blood Program

Volunteer Training Program Overview

Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer collector for the Bloodworks Northwest Cord Blood Donation Program. Our program would not be complete without the nurses, nurse midwives and physicians who so generously give their time to support our mission!

As a federally regulated program, we require our collectors to be trained in donor eligibility criteria, appropriate collection techniques, and proper packaging and paperwork completion.

There are currently two types of training available, depending on the collector:

  • Initial training: designed for collectors who are new to our program, completion of initial training is required before collected cord blood units can be accepted and processed for patient transplant. To receive initial training, please call us at 206-689-6696 or e-mail [email protected]

  • Annual training renewal: completion of annual re-training is required of all cord blood collectors, prior to the expiration date of the previous year’s training. Cord blood units collected by expired collectors cannot be processed. To receive annual training, please call us at 206-689-6696 or e-mail [email protected]

If you have any questions regarding cord blood collector training please contact us at 206-689-6696 or [email protected].
