Method Enzyme Linked Immunosorbant Assay (ELISA)
Test Information An enzyme linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA) using a complex of heparin and Platelet Factor 4 (PF4) is used to capture antibody developed during type II Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT).   Detection of IgG antibody along with a strong clinical history supports a diagnosis of HIT.

Sample Information Whole blood specimens can be sent directly to Bloodworks within 24 hours of draw time. Samples may also be spun, frozen at -20°C, and shipped on dry ice after-hours or over the weekend.
